The Road to WrestleMania hit its most brutal season of being in Chicago, Illinois, on February 28. Elimination Chamber will be live-streamed this year and is known for containing career-changing moments with a mix of championship match(es) and the Chamber match(es) shaping WrestleMania.
Elimination Chamber 2026: A Long-Awaited U.S. Homecoming
The upcoming Elimination Chamber event is kind of a big deal. It's WWE’s first one in the US since 2021, and the first with an American audience since 2020. Big whoop! Even cooler, WWE is finally back at the United Center after being away for over 30 years.
The United Center is kind of a legendary place for wrestling since SummerSlam was the first-ever sports thing they held there back in 1994. That made Chicago a wrestling city. Now, WWE’s back with a great show to honor that past.
WrestleMania Implications: Chamber Matches With Everything on the Line
Continuing the tradition, Elimination Chamber 2026 will have men's and women's Chamber matches. Chamber winners will be the last ones to get a guaranteed title shot at WrestleMania after the Royal Rumble winners have secured their choice of the big event.
Each match will have six Superstars locked up in the steel structure combinaing elements of endurance, timing, and brutality which often matter more than sheer skill. A single win has the power to change a whole career.
All matches announced for WWE Elimination Chamber 2026
Becky Lynch (c) vs AJ Lee – Women’s Intercontinental Championship
AJ Lee, a beloved hometown legend, will take center stage in Chicago when she faces off against Becky Lynch for the WWE Women’s Championship in one of WWE’s biggest events. On the February 9 episode of Monday Night Raw, AJ made her shocking return to WWE by verbally backing Becky Lynch into a corner to make her title defense match official.
AJ Lee has the psychological advantage over Lynch at this point, as they have faced each other two times in 2025, both times with AJ walking away with a victory, first at Wrestlepalooza and then at Survivor Series. However, this match will be the first time AJ and Lynch will compete as singles opponents, which will only increase the drama of what is sure to be a spectacular match.
CM Punk (c) vs Finn Bálor – World Heavyweight Championship
CM Punk is defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Bálor. At first, the General Manager, Adam Pearce, wasn't too keen on the rematch, but Punk really pushed for it – he wants to be a fighting champion, after all.
Bálor is out for revenge since Punk beat him back in January. Thing is, Punk's fighting in Chicago, so the crowd is probably going to be way behind their hometown guy.
